At the end of this month, we’re excited to be bringing Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, to Manchester’s HMV Ritz. This marks her second show for Now Wave, after a sell-out headline performance at Salford’s Islington Mill (one of our favourite venues) back in May.
Claire released her third album ‘Visions’ back in January and since then has gone on to tour globally, collaborate with the likes of Blood Diamonds and Kreayshawn and this week made a stunning appearance on American primetime TV courtesy of ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’. Her track with Blood Diamonds, ‘Phone Sex’, is a combination of Jamie XX-style steel drums and big chorus K-pop and already stands out as one of our favourite tracks of the year so far.

On record, Grimes is bewitching, ethereal and magically hypnotic, but where ‘Visions’ is the sound of late-night introversion, her live show represents some of the most ecstatic electronic pop music around. While her return to Now Wave won’t see her replicate the sweaty basement club atmosphere of Salford’s Mill, it will be another fantastic opportunity to catch one of the most unique producers, and one of our current favourites, in action with a live band.
Support on the night comes from Becoming Real, who has played for Now Wave a number of times and creates thrilling electronica not dissimilar to Manchester’s own D/R/U/G/S, himself a past Now Wave guest. A handful of tickets for this hugely exciting night are still available from See Tickets, Skiddle and the venue itself.
