One of our favourite acts of the last few years, Now Wave are proud to announce MONEY’s largest headline show to date, as they play The Ritz on Wednesday 10 February.
Having long been one of the most impressive live acts around the Manchester scene, MONEY released their debut The Shadow Of Heaven. The record received instant acclaim, managing to capture – as it did – the unique sensation of seeing one of the band’s infamous early performances. The Fly perhaps described it best, noting “As closer ‘Black’ fades out, it’s clear MONEY have made something special and, maybe, even sacred”, and DIY adding “It really is a thing of beauty, and gets better with every listen; one of the surest signs of something that will ultimately be deemed timeless”.
Two years on, MONEY have announced their follow-up record. Titled Suicide Songs, the record looks set to feel even more eerily intimate than it’s predecessor. Featuring themes that swing wildly between hopelessness and blind optimism, singer Jamie Lee said of the album, “I wanted the album to sound like it was ‘coming from death’ which is where these songs emerged. The record is morbid and bleak, and never resolves itself. The only real kind of triumphant realisation is being able to express the morbidity of the situation I found myself in”.
